Obituary of Conrad VanBeek
Conrad VanBeek was born in Lynden, WA on April 10, 1937. He left us to be with his Lord on May 25, 2017. He graduated from Lynden High School in 1956, where he was a member of Future Farmers of America. He worked for several years for Greyhound as a ticket agent, and retired from Intalco after 29 years. Upon retiring, he volunteered for many years at the Bellingham Food Bank. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he taught Sunday school. He brought his whole family to church with a pocketful of candies for the little ones. He loved being with friends and family, whether on a bowling league, cutting wood in the hills, camping, backyard BBQs, clam digging, tending to his garden and flowers, or fishing with his buddies. He enjoyed going on trips with family, including a trip to Holland to see the birthplace of his parents in Ede. His favorite times included sitting with Myrtle and he always had a smile on his face when he saw the grandkids come through the door so he could snuggle with any one of them in his chair. He was a caring and giving father to everyone who loved him. He will be sorely missed, but we look forward to seeing him again someday.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Cora, sister Willie, brother Gerrit, brothers-in-law George, Joe, and Dick. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 55 years, Myrtle, son Jeff, daughter Connie, grandchildren Erick (Josie), Amanda, Jayme (David), and Lindy, 11 great-grandchildren, sisters Gert and Cora, and brothers Ed (Ethel), and Hank (Judi), as well as many nieces and nephews.
