Christmas Time in Whatcom County

Christmas Whatcom CountyWhen it comes to Christmas time in Whatcom County, it’s a wonderful place to be with many different events to enjoy. While Christmas can be especially difficult after losing a loved one we know it’s important for you to be out and about to try and avoid becoming depressed.

We like to try and help by providing a yearly event called our candlelight remembrance service. This gives you a chance to be in a place with others who understand what you’re going through and how difficult this time can be. The event has already passed for this year but we hope you can join us next year.

Even though our event has passed it’s not too late to enjoy some of the wonderful festivities around the Bellingham area. We’ve come up with a few different ones you can attend to help get you in the spirit.

Santa Train

You don’t have to be a child to take a ride on the Santa train, and if you need to find a little Christmas cheer this is the place to be. You’ll see the joy in so many children’s faces as they hop abroad the train and get to have their moment with Santa. If you have kids or grandkids then this is just the place to take them.

The location for this fun event is in Birch Bay at the Miniature World Family Fun Center, just a short drive from Bellingham. The train departs evenings from 5-9pm and takes about 20 minutes. At the end of the ride, you’ll receive hot chocolate, a candy cane, and of course a visit with Santa.

Deck the Old City Hall

For a spectacular display of decorations, you’ll need to visit the Whatcom Museum for their Deck the Old City Hall event. The building is decked out for Christmas with garland, twinkling lights, wreaths, and 20 themed Christmas trees.

If you need somewhere to help get you into the spirit this may just be the place. There’s something about Christmas decorations that help brighten up even the darkest of days.

Holiday Festival of the Arts

Chances are you need to do a little bit of shopping and the mall can be a bit overwhelming especially when you’re not feeling too cheery. For something a little different you could try visiting the Allied Arts Holiday Festival of the Arts.

This event is located on Meridian Street in Bellingham and features the work of over 100 local artisans. Some of the products you’ll find available for purchase include specialty foods, jewelry, art, paintings, and more. If you’re looking for something a little different and a more peaceful experience than the mall, this may be the place to try.

It may seem strange that a funeral home in Bellingham is providing you with a list of Christmas events but it’s important to us to help you heal. We want to see you succeed in living a happy, healthy life while being able to remember those who you’ve lost.
