Melanie was born in Everett, WA, and a life-long resident of Whatcom County. Timi had a love for playing fastpitch and slowpitch softball. She was long-time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed going every Sunday. Mom also had a passion for jail ministries which she helped start at Trinity.
Mom attended Whatcom Community College and graduated with an AAS Business Administration degree. She then moved onto Western Washington University and graduated with a Bachelors in Restorative Justice.
Mom was kind, caring, loving, sympathetic, smart, witty, and a bit sarcastic. We will remember her kindness and generosity and her ability to love someone when they couldn’t love themselves, and her beautiful hair.
She survived by daughter Dulcie (James) Keeler, her son Cole (Dawn) Wegley, granddaughters Gillian Roberts (Dean), Seaneen (Tyler) Roberts, Ephanie Wegley; grandsons Finn Wegley, Drake Wegley; great-granddaughter Renee Roberts-Solomon, great-grandson Cylis Mandeville, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Melanie is predeceased by father Henry Keeler Redlightning, her mother Kathleen Osborne, step-father Paul Osborne, sisters Celeste “Pinky” Alaniz, H. Camille “Poppy” Alaniz, Inez Dida Mae Redlightning, niece Denise “Muffy” “Niecey” Taylor and nephew Harvey Fox.
A funeral service will be held at the Wexliem Community Building on Wednesday July 18, 2018 at 10am, followed by burial at the Lummi Nation Cemetery.
