Obituary of Sharon White

Sharon Dee (Eggen) White, age 58, passed away in the early hours of Sunday July 8, 2018 at Whatcom Hospice House in Bellingham, Washington. Sharon was born on March 21, 1960, the seventh child and third daughter of Arvid and Sylvia (Howem) Eggen. She was the older of a set of twins, who with their births completed the family. Her family lived in Lawrence, WA and Sharon attended Mt. Baker schools, graduating from Mt. Baker High School. She was active in choir, band, and church. Sharon went to Bellingham Technical School and completed a clerical course. Her first job was at the Whatcom County Assessor’s Office. After several years, Sharon decided to travel the United States and broaden her horizons. She particularly enjoyed a sailing trip to Alaska.

Sharon moved back to Bellingham and her daughter was born there. Sharon held a variety of jobs including one of her favorites at the Holmquist Hazelnut Farm. Her last job was at Little Caesar’s Pizza where she worked as a manager for several years.

Sharon loved gardening, sewing, reading, and watching movies. She had a patio garden and a cat at every place she lived. She was very social and greatly enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was always one of the first to offer to help in any way and embodied a warm and caring attitude.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Terry Dean, Douglas Norman, and Terry Wayne. She is survived by her daughter Amanda Dyan White, brother Richard Eggen, sisters Sally Eggen and Susan (David) Williams, and her twin sister Sheila (Ray) Gassman, all of Whatcom County. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Cancer Care Center in Bellingham and all those who took part in her care and included her in their prayers.

Donations can be made in Sharon’s name to the American Cancer Society or to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

A memorial service will be held on Sat. July 21, 2018 at 12:30 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church (5782 Lawrence Rd. Everson) with a reception following. A private inurnment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
