Phil loved John's great sense of humor; he always had a joke to tell; sometimes just corny, but he so enjoyed telling them. Most of all, however, we marveled that John was always "there", ALWAYS---services and meetings at Immanuel---right up until he last went into the hospital. This is a tremendous example of commitment and faithfulness, to God and the family at IBC. Thank you, John.
My wife and I enjoyed fellowship with John for many years at Immanuel Bible Church. Usually sitting near him at the church on Sunday mornings before service began was always a delight. Ever a joyful man, he enjoyed life. Always with a smile, and never complaining about life’s ills, he earnestly gave a hearty handshake to all he greeted. When asked about family, he radiated love and affection toward his wife who was already with the Lord and was ever so thankful for his two sons and their families. While still among us we loved him as our brother in Christ, and we love him still.
Bill & Rick, I loved your parents and had the privilege of serving the Lord with them in Child Evangelism Fellowship. Your dad was such a supportive chairman on the local committee for many years as your mom taught clubs for kids as well as seniors. I loved your dad’s wit as well as his strong work ethic. What a joy it is to know that he is now more alive than he has ever been and experiencing the fullness of his salvation. My prayers are with you and your families.
Dad is sharing a coffee with mom now, and raising a toast to the gang at Lafeens donut shop.
Bill and Rick - your father was the patriarch of our family - a kind, funny, generous role model for his siblings and for all of us. He will be very missed but his legacy lives on in you! The obituary is beautiful. We’ll see you Friday. Love, your cuz Martha
